Peter had a brain storm at the South River Gun Club match this past weekend that lead to the first stage of the night. Musical Chairs featured two shooting areas with two chairs in each one of them. There was a wall immediately in front of the shooting areas with four low ports that pretty well forced your shooting position to be seated and awkward. It was a really ingenious stage and set the mood for the night. We had lots of strong and weak hand only shooting to humble us starting with the classifier (CM 99-46 Close Quarter Standards) and continuing through the last three stages. The NAAS Holiday Party is this Friday night and I'm looking forward to seeing all of you then. If you know of someone not receiving my emails please feel free to pass this on. RBGC Practical Shooters will be donating all profits from the December match to John Nagel?s family. Matt, John?s son, is still in the hospital after being hit by a car on his way to the bus stop 2 weeks ago. For those of you who also wish to donate individually we will have a box at sign in for donations. Please try to join us on Saturday December 22nd at River Bend Gun Club for our December match, you will enjoy a great day of shooting while helping someone who has given to our sport for many years. The match will begin at 10AM; new shooter briefing at 9:30. We will have 6 great stages of fire with two classifiers (both of which will be submitted for those of you trying to attain a classification). I know that Saturdays around the holiday?s are tough but please try to make it and bring a couple friends with you if you can. Also, as most of you know Debi Davis passed away last week. Debi was very involved in our sport; she worked with Cherokee on the State matches and was a huge help getting River Bend launched. Debi will be missed by each of us and our sport! In fact, * Georgia has more places off limits to legal carry than most other states in the nation. Shocked, surprised, disgusted? Fed up? Finally ready to do something about it? If so, mark your calendar to show your support of the Second Amendment Protection Act of 2008 (SAPA). This Bill (HB 915) has beeen introduced by Representative Timothy Bearden, District 68, in the Georgia Legislature for this coming session. SAPA rewrites the firearms laws of Georgia. It removes conflicting, confusing and overly restrictive laws. It permits open carry. It includes the Car Carry Bill from the 2007 session. It stops capers like Mayor Bloomberg's straw purchasers. It repeals the Public Gathering law. It requires timely issuance of firearms licenses. It includes the Katrina Bill. The legwork has been done by a dedicated group of citizens and legislators. HB 915 is pre-filed. Everything in it is similar to the law in at least one other state. There is nothing in it that has not been adopted successfully elsewhere. Now it is your turn to stand up and support your rights. This Bill needs massive public support to overcome the "wild-west, blood in the street" editorials that will surely follow its introduction. The Legislature needs to know that this Bill has broad public support because they won't find out from the media. A crowd of voters turning up in downtown Atlanta mid-week to support this Bill will let them know just that. January 10, 2008 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. before the steps of the state capitol building in Atlanta, Georgia is the place and time for YOU to be there for the press conference and rally in support of SAPA. Bring family and supportive friends. Make a vacation day of it. Just come without your gun as this might be a "Public Gathering". It will be a standard fun shoot and not a classifier night, we look forward to seeing you all there, please come on back and shoot with us. Membership fees for the coming year are now due, please see Jeffrey and renew if you would please. I have the members prizes from the Christmas party, all members had a gift assigned, but if you do not pick it up at the first match on the 8th it goes up for silent auction, all bids will be opened last Tuesday in January.
